CDC issues first set of guidelines for vaccinated individuals

After the start of the nation-wide distribution of vaccines, Americans are now getting vaccinated at the rate of nearly two million per day. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has newly released the instructions and guidelines for those who have received the vaccine.

Americans are considered fully vaccinated two weeks after either a single dose vaccination or the second dose of a two-dose vaccination. Those who are fully vaccinated can now congregate inside without masks, as long as all members of the group have received the Food and Drug Administration’s approved Johnson & Johnson, Pfizer BioNTech or Moderna vaccine.

They can also, without masks, visit a group of unvaccinated people unless someone in the unvaccinated group has an increased risk of contracting COVID-19. The CDC reported that vaccinated individuals are at low risk to become infected when with the unvaccinated.

Another additional restriction lift is that vaccinated people can skip quarantine if exposed to the coronavirus, as long as they do not exhibit any symptoms.

Although some of the regulations have changed for those under the vaccine’s protection, the CDC strongly encourages everyone (vaccinated or not) to adhere to the same guidelines in public. It is recommended that those who are vaccinated continue to avoid large gatherings with the public, or more than one household.

“We’re still learning how vaccines will affect the spread of COVID-19. After you’ve been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, you should keep taking precautions in public places like wearing a mask, staying 6 feet apart from others, and avoiding crowds and poorly ventilated spaces until we know more,” said the CDC in an update information release on their website.
