Eagles create late season momentum

After being on the road for two straight games, the Eagles continued their late season momentum last Saturday, Oct 15, by taking the win over the Boyce College Bulldogs.

Coming into the match, the Bulldogs had a winning record of 7-3. Our Eagles were hot coming off the two straight road wins against Maryville College and Berea College. The boys secured the victory 5-1.

Asbury came firing on all cylinders, recording five shots in the first 10 minutes. Their sixth shot became the Eagles first goal by freshman Luke Thomas and assisted by sophomore Nick Clark in the 13 minute.

The second half remained scoreless for 16 minutes until Asbury picked apart the Bulldog’s defense, putting two more shots into the back of the net.

Compared to last season, AU has already accomplished a better number in the win column this season. Only putting up four wins last season, the victory against Boyce puts AU at five wins on the 2022 season.

“I think we have some great momentum and brotherhood this year, we have to keep continuing to play well,” said Clark.

Asbury brought in 15 freshmen as part of their recruiting class this year, leading to a new energy and feel with the team this year compared to last

The Eagles will conclude their season with a three game road trip against Case Western Reserve University tomorrow, Warren Wilson College Oct 23, and Midway University Nov 1.
