NBA All-Star Weekend 2021

NBA All-Star Weekend looked a little different this year but at least it happened. Instead of having a weekend filled with events prior to the March 7 game, NBA commissioner Adam Silver decided to have all events on one day.

This year the NBA decided to incorporate Historic Black College Universities (HBCUs) in the events as a way to raise awareness of the role HBCUs play in higher education.

“In addition to the festivities on the court, the All-Star Game will honor the vital role HBCUs play in our communities and focus attention and resources on COVID-19 relief, particularly for the most vulnerable,” said Silver.

All-Star Weekend included events such as the skills challenge, three-point contest, dunk contest and the All-Star Game itself.

Domantas Sabonis won the skills challenge. Stephen Curry won the three-point contest. Anfernee Simons was crowned slam dunk champion. In the game, Team Lebron beat Team Durant 170 to 150.
