How to go from “Hot Girl Summer” to “Oversleptember”

“Hot girl summer” is not going down without a fight as we head into fall. However, if you couldn’t tell by my pit stains, it doesn’t quite feel like fall yet. According to the Washington Post, 2019 was the hottest summer on record in the Northern Hemisphere. It’s almost as if the planet is getting hotter or the climate is changing . . . but you’re not ready for that conversation.

As we step into the new season, we need to be mindful of not only our attire, but the unpredictable weather that has us wondering when our pumpkin spice lattes won’t have to be iced.

These transitional ensembles are here to guide individuals who find it hard to balance dressing simultaneously for the heat and the inevitable cold that has yet to come.

Senior Didier Fardin is wearing an outfit that I would describe as frat boy meets my Dominican uncle. Basically, this is the type of outfit you can virtually wear to any function. According to Fardin he would wear an outfit like this to a festival, a family cookout or Walmart at 12 p.m. The possibilities are endless. The crocs and socks allow him to stay warm during a frigid chapel service but also give him the liberty, by removing the socks, to stay cool on his walk to the caf.

Halloween has come early for sophomore Victoria Everett. Dressed in a bright orange “Where’s Waldo?” shirt and Harry Potter frames, she somehow managed to make this work for the weather. Paired with black denim shorts and Vans sneakers, she is ready to longboard her way into Oct. 31st.

Chandler Dobbs is bringing a certain 2007 Brittany Spears energy that, nowadays, we only see at the local Marathon gas station. The oversized Carhart tee and block-colored shorts invite a nice breeze to cool him off. However, the mismatched Christmas socks keep his feet warm while also showing his appreciation for all the seasons. Dobbs would describe this look to be an “urban white trash street style.”

Sophomore Sara Lidia is keeping it cute and girly with the sundress but is also showing us that she isn’t afraid to fight someone with her black Air Force sneakers. This is the kind of look I would imagine seeing someone wear at a barbeque, a first communion or even on a late-night Sonic run.
