Churches of Wilmore: A home away from home

By Cathryn Lien, Staff Writer

If you’re new to Asbury’s campus, the culture shock of a buzzing college campus in a small town might feel overwhelming to you. Or maybe you’re homesick for familiar places and need a place to call your own. Church is a great place to find people who are eager to welcome you into their community. Asburians are lucky to live within walking distance of several places of worship, all of which are ready to be “your home away from home” during your college years.

Great Commission Fellowship

Vineyard Community

300 N. Lexington Avenue

Sunday Worship: 9:00 a.m. & 11:00 a.m.

About the Church:

GCF believes in the ministry of the Holy Spirit and the sufficiency of scripture. Come as you are — no “Sunday best” required. Any questions you have can be asked at the “Hub,” the church’s information center, and coffee and Panera pastries are served at the “Pub.” The service begins and ends with worship by GCF’s music ministry team. Pastor Jason stresses biblically-rooted teaching. Each service follows this pattern and lasts approximately 90 minutes. Associate Pastor Ranjo Clements sees Asbury students as a key part of GCF’s community.

“Asbury students are a vital part of our community,” he said. “Our goal is to share Christ’s love with the world and we hope AU students will receive that love and then join us in sharing it.”
