Wilmore Veterans Day Parade

On Saturday, Nov. 8 at 10 a.m. the city of Wilmore will be hosting their annual Wilmore Veterans Day Parade. Asbury Student Congress along with the Asbury Outreach Coalition, have also partnered to encourage students to attend the event.

The parade provides a unique opportunity for Asbury University students along with the Wilmore community as a whole to celebrate and honor those in our community who have made sacrifices by serving in the military.

The parade will feature veterans from Wilmore’s Thomson-Hood Veterans Center. According to their website the Thomson-Hood Veterans Center is “a 285-bed long-term care facility that has served more than 3,656 Veterans from all branches of the armed forces since admitting the first resident on August 25, 1991.”

Community members are encouraged to line the streets of downtown Wilmore to show their appreciation and support. Students who wish to attend are encouraged to meet on the Asbury side of North Lexington Avenue at 10 a.m. In addition to the parade, attendees can enjoy free coffee and doughnuts and even enter for a chance to win a special parade hat.
