2026 spring registration and DPA updates

Students will be able to register for the spring semester soon, but it will not be reflected on their Degree Progress Audit (DPA).The DPA is a report that helps students track their completed credits and the credits they register for. It gives students a visual aide to how their credits are being applied towards their degree requirements.

Unlike a transcript that provides a historic record of all credits earned at Asbury, the DPA focuses only on the courses students need to complete for their degree.

As of Oct. 15, any changes made to the DPA are not visible. However, students can continue to make changes to their majors or minors. Due to the Registrar’s Office and the Information Technology teams working to perform essential system maintenance on the DPA, it will appear frozen and unable to reflect changes.

However, the top section of the DPA will continue to accurately reflect students’ current majors or minors, their catalog year and their graduation date.

While the DPA is not currently accessible, it does not affect students’ ability to register for the spring semester.

“The registration process for Spring 2026 will be largely the same,” said Registrar staff Hannah Shultz. “Students will register for their courses through the Student Portal, but they just won’t be able to see these registration updates applied to their DPA.”

Students are encouraged to double check that all registered classes are being applied to needed degree requirements. In order to help students with this, the registrar has outlined a step-by-step guideline for registering for the spring semester. The steps include printing their frozen Degree Process Audit, unofficial transcript and program sheets to annotate and have a visual reminder of what they need.

Additionally, students are also encouraged to meet with their advisors and staff at the Registrar’s Office for help or more information. Meetings with both advisors and Registrar is especially important for those looking to take action such as changing their major or adding a minor.

While most of the registration process will remain the same, the lack of visibility regarding student’s degree requirements will be a setback.

“The DPA has been a great tool to ensure that the student, advisor and the Registrar’s Office were all on the same page” said Shultz. “Without live DPA updates, additional communication and collaboration is required between these three groups.”

The emphasis on constant communication will result in more academic details and other essential information being shared through email. Therefore, students should regularly check their emails and make note of any approved changes to their academic record.

If students are confused about their degree progress or have any questions regarding changes to their degree, the Registrar’s Office will be offering weekly DPA office hours on Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Students can also email the office at registrar.info@asbury.edu. While the rebuilding of the Student Information System might affect response times, students should still ask questions.

“Ask any questions sooner rather than later,” encouraged Shultz. “Miscommunication about degree requirements can extend a student’s graduation timeline if not addressed as soon as possible.”
