Asbury Athletics: Spooky Season Draws to a Close

As the final two months of the semester approach, the active teams under the Asbury athletics umbrella are officially over the midseason hump and working towards their end-of-year competitions in multiple respects. Here’s the latest, across the board:

Men’s Soccer

At 6-4-3 on the season, 0-2-2 in the Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS), the Asbury men’s soccer team, despite having gone almost an entire month without a notch in the win column, are still floating above the .500 mark on their overall record.

Their final game of the regular season takes place versus the visiting Covenant College on Saturday, Oct. 25, before the team will prepare for both conference and regional tournaments. While they’ve hit a cold streak, the Eagles still have a chance to cover their bases before the year fully ends, and go out on a high note given a solid performance in either tournament.

Women’s Soccer

With a win percentage almost identical to the men’s team, Asbury women’s soccer finds themselves comfortably above the .500 mark at 8-5-2, and 4-2 in conference play. Their impressive 5-1-1 reputation at home is the highlight of the team’s 2025 resume.

Their last match of the regular season takes place on Sunday, Oct. 26, against Piedmont University in Demorest, Ga. After that, all that lies ahead for the Eagles is the CCS tournament, in their last opportunity to put a positive bow on the athletic year.

Swimming

After a week off following their annual alumni meet, the Asbury swimming team will have their first match of the new season on Oct. 25 against Transylvania University.

Taking place at home, both the men’s and women’s factions will look to get off to a hot start on the year with a duel in front of their home crowd. The match represents their first of two to begin the year at home, with the second coming the following Friday, Oct. 31, versus Campbellsville University.

Volleyball

Asbury’s volleyball squad, following a fiery recovery of their season after a 2-6 start, have drawn their record all the way up to 12-7 ahead of the CCS Tri-Match event. The conference double-header, taking place on Oct. 25, will be on the road in Decatur, Ga.

They’ll first battle Agnes Scott College, the event’s host, at noon, before participating in a second game just two hours later against Belhaven University. The two-headed competition previews the team’s trip to Maryville, Tenn., the following Tuesday on Oct. 28, where they’ll make a pitstop on their road trip versus Maryville College.
