WHAM returns

Worship Him at Midnight, also known as WHAM, will have  its once a month service on Sept. 26 from 10 p.m. to 12 a.m. in Hughes Auditorium.

WHAM is a student-led worship experience that is typically held three to four times a semester. The service has become an indispensable event at Asbury, and is  widely recognized by both faculty and students. With its interactive nature and consistent attendance throughout the university, it is considered one of the most popular flex credit opportunities.

“I love WHAM because it’s really fun to see the entire student body come together to worship the Lord, and it’s a real honor to get to be a part of that,” explained junior Abby Moffit. “I just love sitting in the balcony and watching everybody down below just worshipping and praising God together as a student body.”

During the service, students will be given time for prayer and worship with music being played by Asbury’s worship band. Additionally, there is usually a small sermon that is delivered by a guest speaker, faculty member or student.

WHAM allows students to take time away from studying to focus on their spiritual well-being. While chapel is another opportunity for students, WHAM differs in its student involvement and less formal setting.

“I love WHAM, I love the environment, I love how it’s so welcoming to other colleges and I love just the vulnerability and the rawness that it brings,” said junior Sidney Hason, Spiritual Life Assistant.

All students are invited to attend WHAM on Friday, Sept. 26 in Hughes Auditorium.
