Senior Spring Art Exhibits will begin on Mar. 2 at 9 a.m. in various locations.
The Senior Art Exhibits happen every semester, providing an opportunity for students to showcase the different artistic works that they have been working on during their time at Asbury. According to the course description, “the student in studio art must mount a professional-grade quality exhibition of a body of work created for the Art major in the University gallery or other designated space.”
Through the exhibits, the art departments aim to challenge and equip students to help learn the best practices in their discipline, to create a strong work ethic and set the student up for success as they go out into the world, and to advance an art mindset in whatever context they may find themselves.
Each student’s art exhibit will be held in a different location. Vanessa Fischer will be held in the Blue Gallery, which is located in the Bistro. Her gallery will include drawing, printmaking and sculpture.
Ella Nelson’s exhibit will be held in the Kinlaw Gallery, with her exhibit showcasing her paintings and drawings.
Hope Eland’s exhibit will be in the Purple Gallery at the Bistro and will feature her graphic design work.
Joshua Owen’s photography will be shown in the Reasoner Hallway Gallery.
Finally, Kaja Jaques’ fabric arts installations will be in the Red Gallery in the Bistro.
“This process of putting together an exhibit really solidified my identity as an artist,” said Jaques. “It made me seriously consider why I create, and why creation is important to me.”
Whether students are interested in a variety of art-related works or happen to be walking past the galleries, the exhibits will open on Mar. 2 and end on the 27.
