Following the success of Asbury’s first-ever Women’s Clothing Swap last year, Asbury has decided to host a Women’s Clothing Swap for the second year in a row.
In the weeks leading up to the clothing swap, students have given their new or gently used clothes to their RA in exchange for a ticket that is worth the number of items that they donated. Students can then look around and pick items to take back with them.
The return of the event has been highly anticipated, with many students requesting to have the event again immediately following the first clothing swap. “It was also really encouraging to see how much people enjoyed it,” stated Emily Leininger, Resident Director of Aldersgate. “They really appreciated it and found it to be really fun and walked away with some really cool clothing items.”
The clothing swap is not only fun, but also provides tangible ways for students to practice sustainability.
“It’s a great sustainability option for people because we all know that we don’t probably wear all the clothes in our closet and sometimes you just get tired of your clothes but instead of just going to shop for new clothes a great option could be to look sustainability and why not just swap clothes and you don’t even have to pay for anything like you do at a thrift store,” stated Leininger.
Students who want to shop can come to the map side of the STUCE on February 14th from 10 a.m. to noon. The clothing swap gives students the opportunity to hang out, shop with friends and even grab a coffee from the HICCUP, which will be open for the event.
