Alycia Wood will be hosting Faith & Culture: Courageous Conversations, An Afternoon With An Apologist-Lunch Talkback on Feb. 20 at 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Walt and Rowena Shaw Collaborative Learning Center (CLC) Auditorium.
The event is open to all students on campus who want to ask questions or have an open dialogue with Wood about anything regarding her ministry and hard questions they have about faith/controversial topics in today’s world. For this event, the first 50 to attend get free Chick-Fil-A.
While talkbacks are a common event held on campus, this specific event is something that has been planned for a long time.
“SLB [Spiritual Life Board] has been taking into consideration tension that has been happening in today’s world since last fall, which will always be a reality in a fallen world,” explained Nathan Gabbard, Vice President of Spiritual Life Board. “We believe the topic: ‘Courageous Conversations,’ is related to Faith & Culture as we learn to navigate the world we live in, and the hard conversations we may find ourselves having on campus and post-graduation as we enter the workplace.”
According to C.S. Lewis Institute, Wood has been an apologist for over twelve years and is currently working with Apologetics, Inc. where she is a speaker, writer and podcaster. Aside from her podcast, “Hey Alicia!”, she speaks in a variety of places where she focuses on making sense of Christianity through engaging with tough questions.
“ [Wood] has an amazing way of embracing truth and standing firm, all while remaining humble and representing Christ through love and relationship,” said Gabbard. “If you are a student who feels a pull to engage controversial topics and foster a space where hard things can be talked about, but are not sure how to do it in a way that is loving and Christ-centered, this is the event for you.”
For students interested in finding answers to questions they are wrestling with, whether it is politics, religion or existentialism, everyone is welcome to participate in this event.
