Silent Book Club returns

The spring semester is now in full swing, with many students juggling full course loads, studies and trying to find time in their busy schedules to rest. In the midst of that busyness, Silent Book Club has emerged as a space where students can slow down, unplug and read together.

Silent Book Club provides a space for members of the Asbury community to bring their own books and read together in silence. “One of the things that I enjoy most about Silent Book Club is that it carves out space in my schedule and gives me a chance to slow down,” said Anna Kinghord, a regular attendee at Silent Book Club. “As the semester gets busy, it’s easy to feel like I need to check things off my list as quickly as possible, but making space for the book club last semester helped me to find some breathing room,” she continued.

The event gives students the ability to rest, while also being with others. “It’s a great way to enjoy being in community without having to use up too much energy. You get to do your own thing in a peaceful environment and you don’t have to be alone to do it,” stated Kinghorn.

To join the silent book club, visit Kinlaw Library on Wednesday, February 4, at 7:30 p.m. in the Chapel Lounge on the second floor.
