Signs of spring are all around us as the weather changes and the stress of the last month of classes begins to settle in. Amidst the studying and planning for what is to come, it is easy to forget the accomplishments and experiences of the academic school year, which is rapidly coming to an end.
While seniors mark and celebrate the end of their time in college, freshmen do not often observe the fact that their time as first-year students is nearly over.
To celebrate freshmen year and the spring season, the Freshman Formal will be taking place on March 23 from 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. at Wilmore City Hall. The fun-filled night will feature dancing, various foods and a photobooth.
Class Activities Director and freshman Ella Harkey, who oversaw the planning of the event, stated that the formal is “a great way to celebrate alongside one another as we quickly approach the end of our last semester as freshmen.”
All Asbury freshmen are invited, and each freshman is welcome to bring along one outside guest. Formal attire is encouraged.
Tickets for the event will be $10 per attendee and available for purchase near the entrance to the cafeteria from March 18 through March 22 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
The dance will be centered around a spring theme, as Harkey stated, “As we embark on our first spring semester as Freshmen here at Asbury, we thought a spring-themed dance would be fitting. Expect to see many fun colors as this year’s theme is Spring Fling!”
The event involved the planning of each freshman cabinet member alongside Beloved Class Advisors, Dr. Brittany Worthen and Ryan Worthen. The formal also drew on insight from Beloved Class Sponsors, Amanda Hobbs and Andrew Seamands, who shared their past experiences with Formal.
This year’s Spring Fling Freshman Formal is a great way to celebrate the milestone of finishing one’s first year in college. For a few hours before the spring semester comes to a close, there is the opportunity to mingle with fellow freshmen for a night of fun and celebration.
