“Brews and Brushes” at Drinklings

Many events have been orchestrated at Drinklings Coffee House in Wilmore, KY, over the years, and this coming March 1, from 6-9 pm, marks their first “Brews and Brushes” community art event.

“While we have often opened up Drinkling’s for different events, this is an event where people can bring their own supplies to paint in our coffee shop,” said Esther Peters, lead social media coordinator and barista at Drinklings. “We plan to hold a painting and drawing party, with live music from local artist around Wilmore. It is an opportunity to have coffee and paint with one another, all under one roof.”

“Brews and Brushes,” coordinated by Landrie Nickell, managing editor on staff at The Asbury Collegian, and Peters, have been orchestrating this event with high hopes for the future.

“It started with a very simple discussion about hanging out in a coffee shop and getting together,” said Peters. “Then, it transformed into ‘We could have a painting night!’ People can simply get together and bring their own crafts, paints, knitting, or crocheting. Drinklings has three core values. One of those is to create a space where people can culture their creativity. Part of that is even in the way we designed the coffee shop and the drinks that we come up with.”

This event is open to all in the community of Wilmore, and while limited supplies will be provided, the Drinklings staff asks that participants bring their own crafts.

“Ultimately, this is an event to cultivate creativity and to bring in people for the University, the Seminary, and the local community. It is for anyone who is familiar with Drinklings and would enjoy the opportunity to hang out. It is not just about the coffee. We want our establishment to cultivate community,” concluded Peters.
