Finally fall and all that it brings

Seas of red, orange and yellow are beginning to flood across the hills of beautiful Kentucky as summer turns into fall.

The temperature has begun to drop and the leaves are starting to change, so break out your favorite sweaters and sweatpants because fall is officially here!

A big trend taking social media and Asbury by storm is the Birkenstock Boston Clogs, which Asbury sophomore Anna Bauer loves.

“I know you all have seen those Birkenstock Boston Clogs, and they are so cute, and there are so many variations of them outside the Birkenstock brand,” Bauer said.

The comfy shoes are a perfect fashion staple, perfect for the season. They pair beautifully with the cutest outfit the season has for us- jeans and, more importantly, sweaters!

The SNL skit “Sweater Weather” is exactly what pops to mind when the leaves begin to fall and the temperature drops. They combine comfort and fashion; if you take a moment to look around campus, they are now everywhere.

Along with the colorful leaves beginning to change, football season has started.

“I am most excited for fall because I love football season,” sophomore Asa Callow said.

We are already deep into regular football seasons for both college and NFL teams. Tension is mounting as teams are being tested, but the football atmosphere is unmatched, yet another perfect pairing for the season.

Another fall must-have on campus is at least one of the fantastic specialty fall drinks at the Hiccup. This year the HICCUP has released four new drinks for this autumn season.

  • Brown Sugar Cinnamon Affogato (which is ice cream with espresso).
  • The Maple Leaf- a cortado with hints of cinnamon and the brand new maple flavor
  •  The Chai-der (is an Apple Cider Chai)
  • And, of course, the staple Pumpkin Pie flavor, which baristas can make into a latte, chai, or a shake!

Now for one of the absolute best parts of the season: Halloween, which is right around the corner. Now is the time to break out all the spooky decor for this spooky season.

New to Disney + is a sequel to a beloved and classic Halloween movie, Hocus Pocus. The Sanderson Sisters are going back to Salem once again. Hocus Pocus 2 has been a long-awaited movie since the first one was such a hit and the original cast is back at it again! If you haven’t seen it, it is an excellent addition to a spooky season movie marathon for any hall event.

Finally, one of my favorites of the season is the flavors. Making holiday treats in a dorm can be tricky, but some Halloween treats like caramel apples, pumpkin cheesecake bites, and a little pudding graveyard is delicious and can be made in a dorm kitchen.

Welcome to fall, and have a tremendous spooky season Asbury!
