Homesickness Cure

Asbury’s campus will soon be filled with loving parents, grandparents, and guardians as family weekend kicks off tonight.  This is a chance for students to get the much needed connection to home, especially if they come from far away.

    Throughout the weekend there will be special activities for guests to join in on.

Today there are multiple events starting with chapel at 10. Additionally there will be:

  • Tours of the Luce, Admissions, and Alumni House tours held from 1-3 p.m.
  • From 4-7 p.m. Fall Festival will be held on Reasoner Green
  • There will be Family Weekend Evening Concert at 7:30 in Jameson Recital Hall

Tomorrow there will be even more events to enjoy.

  • Parents breakfast with the President in Johnson Dining Hall is $10 per person from 9-10:30 a.m.
  • Men’s and Women’s swimming vs Alumni is 10:00 a.m. at the Luce
  • Starting at 11:00 a.m. Family Weekend Ensemble and Reception in the Jameson Recital Hall
  • Also at 11:00 a.m., Men’s Soccer vs. DePauw University at the Soccer Field
  • At 1:00 p.m. Women’s Soccer vs. DePauw University at the Soccer Field
  • From 4-7:00 p.m. there is the annual World Gospel Mission Goat Roast held at the WGM Student Center

    If those activities don’t fit into the schedule or you simply want more to do in the small town of Wilmore. Open daily there are:

  • The Faculty Exhibition: The Artist as Truthteller held in the Bistro Gallery
  • Permanent Collection Edits in the McCreless Fine Arts Gallery 
  • Dora Daniel: Wind in Grass in the Kinlaw Library on the South Wall

The Asbury Collegian is an Asbury University publication. The paper is staffed entirely by Asbury students who seek to write on topics of interest to the University and the surrounding community.
