Russia invades Ukraine, Europe on edge

Russia launched its anticipated invasion of Ukraine Thursday as Russian President Vladimir Putin threatened “consequences you have never seen” for any country that tries to stop him or interferes.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky vowed that Ukraine will defend itself.

The attack was condemned by the U.S. and its allies who responded with a variety of sanctions against Russia. Multiple military strikes were reported throughout Ukraine on Thursday with some sources within the country reporting “dozens dead.”

A senior U.S. defense official told Fox News that Russia was making a strong move toward Ukraine’s capital of Kyiv with the intention of “decapitating the government.”

The U.S. has sent military assistance to the region but President Biden has said the U.S. forces will not be entering Ukraine itself.
