McDonald, Haupt River States Conference Players of the Week

Two Asbury baseball players are River States Conference Players of the week. Fifth year senior Will McDonald was named Pitcher of the Week and junior Paul Haupt was named Player of the Week for the week of March 1.

Both Haupt and McDonald had stellar performances during Asbury’s series against Grace College from Indiana in Florence, Kentucky, on Feb. 25 and 26.

McDonald continues to dominate on the mound. He threw a complete game shutout against Grace, adding to his perfect record, 3-0. Against Grace, McDonald struck out eleven and allowed only three hits. 

Haupt, an infielder, earned this title after an impressive performance last week against Grace College, adding to his strong season statistics. In three games against Grace, Haupt had seven hits. He also had ten RBIs, which is a team best for the Eagles. 

On the season, Haupt has a batting average of .351. Along with his impressive performance at the plate, Haupt has been strong in the infield with a season fielding percentage of .952. Haupt has only had two errors all season.

The Eagles are currently 9-2. Their season continues on March 5 at home against the Point Park Pioneers.
