Ray Shouse Night game cancelled, rescheduled due to flu

On Feb. 1, the Asbury men’s basketball team was scheduled to play Carlow University, but due
to the rise of the flu on Asbury’s campus, the game was postponed.
The game was scheduled on the annual Ray Shouse night, which made the news of the
cancellation difficult for Coach Will Shouse and the team. Ray Shouse night is an annual event
in honor of the life of Coach Shouse’s son, Ray, who passed away not long after he was
adopted by Shouse and his wife.
“Will and I are very sad to announce that our annual Ray Shouse game that was scheduled for
tomorrow is canceled,” said Whitney Shouse, Will Shouse’s wife, in an Instagram post. “The
opposing team refuses to come due to the flu at Asbury. This is very disappointing as we use
this game each year both to honor our son and to raise money for the scholarship in his name. If
we get to reschedule we will let everyone know.”
The Asbury Men’s Basketball Twitter account announced Feb. 1 that the Ray Shouse memorial
game will be Saturday, Feb. 8 against Indiana Southeast. The game against Carlow University
has yet to be rescheduled.
