Wilmore hosts International Color Run September 21

Ever wanted to get cornstarch tinted with food coloring thrown on you while jogging? Well now’s your chance. This year, Wilmore, Kentucky, is the location of the International Color Run, sponsored by GO InterNational and Cornerstone International. The International Color Run is a 5K “fun run” as participants experience being covered in multi-colored powder thrown on them from volunteers at different checkpoints throughout the course.

The Color Run is scheduled to take place Saturday, Sep. 21, beginning at 9 a.m, and the sponsoring organizations urged interested participants to sign up as soon as possible. Runners will receive a Color Run t-shirt upon check-in at the event, beginning at 8 a.m., and walk-up participants the day of the run are welcome, as well. After the run, as is Color Run tradition, a “color party” will take place as participants are given their own powder color packets to throw. The post-run party flows right into the beginning of the More Tales Festival in Wilmore that starts at 10 a.m. and features music, food trucks, other vendors and storytelling.

Both GO InterNational and Cornerstone International are organizations that provide help and training to those feeling led to the mission field. Comparatively, Cornerstone International conducts more long-term mission trips while GO InterNational sponsors more short-term trips. Proceeds from the International Color Run are going toward funding upcoming mission trips sponsored by the organizations.

GO InterNational and Cornerstone International were both at Asbury’s Activity Fair on Aug. 22, promoting their organizations as well as the upcoming Color Run to students, as the event has a discount registration price for students of 25 dollars. Registration is 30 dollars for adults and 15 dollars for children 12 and under.

Robin Gericke, GO InterNational’s director of marketing communications, said, “It will be a great time for everyone to come out and help support those entering the mission field, some for the first time.”
