Upperclassmen at Asbury University are eagerly anticipating one of the semester’s most popular events: the annual Junior/Senior Formal. This year’s dance, themed “The Gatsby Gala,” will take place on March 28 at The Carrick House in Lexington.
Inspired by the Roaring Twenties, the formal promises an evening of music, dancing and fun. Tickets for the event are currently selling for $25 a piece from March 9-22. Prices of tickets will rise to $30 if purchased between March 23-26, and tickets are $40 if purchased at the door. The formal is being organized by the Class of 2027 Beloved cabinet, whose members have coordinated the planning and logistics for the event. From picking out a venue to curating the atmosphere, the cabinet aims to foster a lighthearted atmosphere for students to break away from academic pressures and responsibilities.
“I’m especially excited for junior/senior because we get to pick our playlist,” said junior Perry Blevins. “I’ve been looking forward to it all semester.”
The Formal remains a tradition at Asbury that builds community and lets students enjoy a night of fellowship before graduation. With its historic theme and off-campus setting, the Junior/Senior Formal is unique from other Asbury dances.
