The Glide-Crawford Residence Hall will host its annual campus event, Hallywood, on Friday, Feb. 7, from 8 to 10 p.m. The event will take place throughout the Glide-Crawford dorm and is open to students across campus.
Hallywood is a campus-wide event similar to Kresge Candyland and Johnson Christmas.
“Basically, it’s a walkthrough of all the different halls where each hall is gonna decorate their hall as a movie and put visitors through the experience of that movie,” said Peyton Dick, assistant resident director of Glide-Crawford.
Some favorites from last year’s Hallywood halls include “Narnia” winning Best Set, “Tangled” winning Best Soundtrack, and “Ratatouille” winning Best Picture.
Preparation for Hallywood involves collaboration between residents, resident assistants and Residence Life staff. Each hall is responsible for designing its own movie-themed space, while Residence Life staff assist with logistics and building-wide coordination to support the event.
In previous years, Residence Life has put on similar events at Glide-Crawford, such as a murder mystery event and a 100-year celebration for the building. This year marks the second anniversary of Glide-Crawford hosting Hallywood. Last year’s Hallywood was met with such strong attendance and a positive response from students, it pushed Residence Life staff to make it an annual event.
“Our hope is that it’ll just be a time where the community can get together and take a load off from all their work and all the stress,” Peyton said.
Students are encouraged to arrive early to the event, as traffic through the halls may increase throughout the evening. No registration is required.
