WHAM, Worship Him at Midnight, will return for the spring semester starting on Jan. 30 at 10 p.m. to 12 a.m.
WHAM is a student-led worship service that is usually held once a month every semester. The service itself is a widely recognized event, with faculty, Asbury students and other local college students in attendance. The service allows students both a break from their studies and a way to continue fostering their faith.
“I really like WHAM. It’s my favorite part of the month,” said freshman Ely Rogers. “It’s great to be a part of a community that feels the same way about God that I do, and it just makes me feel like we are more united.”
During the service, students are given numerous opportunities to pray and worship with the music being played by an Asbury worship band. Additionally, during the service there is a small sermon or testimony given by a guest speaker, faculty member or student.
“I really love going to WHAM because it’s such a fun and inclusive event,” said sophomore Moira Tinsley. “I always love the songs the band sings, and there have been a lot of great messages that I have heard from Zach [Meerkreebs] and other speakers.”
While WHAM offers students the ability to receive flex credit, it also gives students the opportunity to gather with their friends and focus on their spiritual well-being.
All students are invited to WHAM on Friday, Jan. 30 in Hughes Auditorium at 10 p.m.
