The English department will kick off its yearly English Tea event on Sept. 8 from 4 to 6 p.m. in the SEARCH studio found in the Shaw Collaborative Learning Center (CLC).
English Tea focuses on cultivating relationships outside of the classroom between both students and professors. It gives students the ability to interact with each other and the professors without the threat of a deadline or exam.
The event takes place during both fall and spring semesters, with many of the English professors in attendance.
While the event attracts both English and creative writing students, in the past, many students and alumni of various majors have come to English Tea.
“I’d just stress that English Tea is open to all who are interested,” says Dr. Erin Penner. “It’s wonderful to see students take up the event and make it their own.”
There will be a variety of snacks and teas accompanied with the lively discussion. Students are encouraged to bring their own mugs.
If students are unable to attend this month, there are two other dates, Oct. 8 and Nov. 3, listed for this event in the fall semester. English Tea will still be held in the SEARCH studio.
Many of the events on campus appeal to specific classes, teams or majors but English Tea offers a unique experience that brings an assortment of people together for discussion and hot drinks.
