Asbury University’s Executive Cabinet hosts Town Hall

As the Fall semester grows closer to its end, Asbury’s Student Congress (ASC) is holding a Town Hall to hear feedback from the student body and address their concerns and issues.

Valerii Vakulenko, the treasurer for the Executive Cabinet, said of the event, “It gives us a chance to hear issues. It’s an event we do every year. We set up a table, and we allow students to fill out forms so we can gather complaints or advice, and ask them what they think Student Government can improve on.”

The event is being held at the HICCUP in Asbury’s Student Center and will take place on Nov. 13 from 2:15 to 4 p.m. All seven members of the Executive Cabinet(EC) will be present for the event and will distribute forms to students, giving them the opportunity to provide feedback to the EC on what they would like to see them work on in the coming months. For completing this form, students will also receive a HICCUP card that they can use to get a free drink.

“The form takes like four minutes to fill out,” Vakulenko said. “People love the HICCUP, and through these forms we get good feedback to analyze, see what we can work on, and see issues we should work on.”

Zachary Fazio, Student Body President, expressed his hope for the event. “Ultimately, our job here is to not only equip leaders, but also practice what it means to do civil service in a small community.” He continued, “I’m hoping through this event, we show people that. We’re a bit of middlemen for students interacting with leadership on campus, and so this event is a good way in gathering information and see what issues have a lot of common consensus among students, and I really hope that we see more wants rather than needs, cause if we see that, then that means we’re doing our jobs well.”

If students are interested in the event, they can come in at any time between 2:15 to 4 p.m. to participate. If students are interested in meeting with Executive Cabinet members one-on-one, they can visit their office in the basement of the Student Center during the posted meeting hours, which are displayed outside the location and on the ASC Instagram.
