Similar to other all-campus events held earlier this semester, Asbury’s Student Activities Cabinet (SAC) is giving students another opportunity to meet others through their yearly event, “Coffee and Canvas.”
Elizabeth “Liz” Louden, Resident Director of Glide-Crawford and Staff Advisor for SAC, told the Collegian regarding the event, “Coffee and Canvas is a night of art and coffee on our campus, encompassing art in many forms such as painting, music, poetry and other forms of art.” She continued, “It’s a night to celebrate the talent on our campus, and allow students to enjoy the art presented there.”
Coffee and Canvas is one of SAC’s yearly events, and gives students the opportunity to listen to other students perform, and also allows students to paint their own artworks. The event will take place in front of the old Asbury College building on Oct. 11 from 7-10 p.m. It will also be catered. Around ten bands consisting of current and former Asbury students will perform. Canvases and paint will be provided to use through the event as well.
Louden also expressed her hope for the event this year. “I really hope it’s a fun night where students can make memories with their friends, and just be able to relax through this busy season.” She followed by stating, “the event comes around midterm time, and while that isn’t intentional, it gives time for students to paint, hang out with friends, listen to some good music and have some good food.”If students are interested, they can contact Louden at elizabeth.louden@asbury.edu.
