With one academic week under their belts thus far, Asbury’s collective athletic unit have all started their respective seasons. Here’s a recap of what you may have missed in week one.
Cross Country
Despite having only competed in one meet up to this point, the cross country team started their 2025 campaign strong with a 2nd place overall finish on Friday, Aug. 29. Taking home the silver marks a solid improvement from the median last season for the Eagles.
Their next meet will take place on Saturday, Sept. 13, at Berea College.
Golf
The golf team also opened their season during the last weekend of August, where they placed 17th overall and tied for 13th individually at the Transylvania Fall Invitational in Lexington.
They’ll have a week to break before traveling to Prestonburg for the NCCAA Mideast Regional, between Monday, Sept. 15 and Tuesday the 16th.
Men’s Soccer
At 1-1 thus far in the season, the men’s soccer team essentially have a clean slate ahead of them, with a chance to add to the victory column in a match against Boyce College on Saturday, Sept. 13.
After opening the season on a 2-1 loss at Transylvania, the Eagles quickly turned the tide with a dominant 5-1 win at Mount St. Joseph University. An opening loss hurts, but the only way to counter it is with an overwhelming victory. It’s only up from here.
Women’s Soccer
At 2-0, with a tie-game under their belts to boot, women’s soccer have kicked off their 2025 effort in red-hot fashion. Their first victory came on August 30 against Ohio Christian University (5-0), followed by another big win versus Kentucky Christian University on Sept. 3, 6-0.
They’ll look to continue their control on the road at Spalding University on Saturday, Sept. 13.
Volleyball
After starting their season with three straight losses, the Eagles volleyball squad have begun to turn things around with two straight victories. The latest of which came at home against Berea College at a promising 3-0 tally.
A relatively new institution for the athletics department, the volleyball team is looking to continue to inspire hope in a new, ever-growing fanbase of students and supporters. Show out to their next home game on Wednesday, Sept. 17, at 7:00 p.m. against the visiting Transylvania University!
