Silent Disco coming soon to Asbury

The Silent Disco has become a staple among events offered at Asbury. This event, put on by Asbury’s Student Activities Cabinet (SAC), will take place Sept. 6 at the Walt and Rowena Shaw Collaborative Learning Center (CLC) Luce Auditorium from 8 to 11 p.m.

For the event, every student will be given a pair of headphones that has three different stations for them to choose from. Along with the music, the Silent Disco has a theme so students can dress up if they choose to do so. For this year, the theme is, “Welcome to the Jungle,” which will include disco balls and jungle leaf decorations, and possibly a paper waterfall.

The Silent Disco stands out from other events at Asbury because it reaches every part of campus. Attendance is not limited by anything other than student availability.

“It’s not something that is geared more towards artists and musicians like Coffee and Canvas,” says senior SAC member Marlee Pettit. “It’s something the whole campus can enjoy and be a part of.”

Aside from the music and dancing, SAC will be providing refreshments such as Ale-8,water and popsicles for students.

“We’re excited to put it on, we’re excited for everyone who is going to show up and we’re excited for the new freshman class to get to experience the first one of their time here,” says SAC member Samantha Bottom.

Whether you have been to every Silent Disco, or this is the first one you attend, everyone is encouraged to come out to the CLC on Sept. 6 from 8 to 11 p.m. to take part in the event.
