The Invitational Band Concert will take place on March 10 from 7:30 p.m. – 9 p.m., put on by the music department. The event will be held in Hughes Auditorium.
Every year, the concert showcases a high school band in the Nicholasville area and gives them the opportunity to participate in a show with Asbury’s concert band, directed by Glen Fannigan. This year, the chosen band is West Jessamine High School and their conductor is Ben Lay.
The West Jessamine students will have an opportunity to practice in Hughes Auditorium in the afternoon and then perform with the Asbury concert band in the evening. Both bands will have the opportunity to present songs by themselves as well as perform together during the show.
The Asbury concert band repertoire will include pieces such as “Irish Ayre,” “Barnum and Bailey,” “Rejouissance” and “Cloud Line.” The pieces portray a wide variety of genres and themes, each hoping to enrich and entertain the audience.
The event is free to the public and all students and guests are welcome to attend.
