Swimming

Both the mens and women’s teams had their last regular season meet on Jan. 31. The men lost their matchup against Urbana University 145-82. Urbana’s men took the number one spot in every event except for the 400-yard freestyle relay, where the team of sophomore Tommy Otley, freshmen CJ Mortiz and Josh Fritz and senior Cody Barnes finished in 3:23.23.

The women won their meet 92-119. Junior Sara Henderson won three of her events and freshman Natasha Oduor-Owino picked up wins in the 100 and 200-yard breaststroke.

The next step for both men and women is the Appalachian Swimming Conference meet in Christianburg, Virginia on Feb. 13.

Men’s Basketball

The perfect home record came to an end on Jan. 31 when the Eagles lost 77-93 to #24 Indiana University East. After the season-ending injury to junior Kyle Lamb in the previous game, freshman Daulton Peters and junior Todd Jefferson split time in his place. Even though they kept the game close through halftime, the Eagles were outmatched in the paint, giving up 58 points and getting out-rebounded 44-26. The next step for the Eagles is an away game on Feb. 7 against Alice Lloyd College.

Women’s Basketball

A commanding win against IU East on Jan. 31 brought the winning streak for the women’s team to three games. Sophomore Brittany Warren had 22 points and 4 rebounds while fellow sophomore Savannah Taylor had 19 points and 6 rebounds. The women will also be traveling to Alice Lloyd College on Feb. 7 for a 2 p.m. tip-off.
